Republican legislative leader Fitzgerald has attempted to defy a court order prohibiting the infamous anti-union law from taking effect in Wisconsin. Details are at the Huffington Post web site page linked below.
Republican efforts to kill unions continue even at the expense of the court system. Let us be clear: any attack on the legitimacy of the courts is an attack on our system of justice. Certainly judges can be wrong, but to defy a restraining order -- something which only temporarily delays enactment of this law -- is especially brazen. It is one thing to dislike unions. It is quite another to upend our system of checks and balances entirely. If such efforts are allowed to stand in Wisconsin, the entire nation is at risk.
