ABC News is reporting on efforts by Republicans disaffected by Trumpism to form a third party effort to challenge the celebrity businessman, should he be the nominee in the fall. (Despite what you may have read, Trump's nomination is not completely a "done deal.") The effort includes big donors concerned about Trump's competence and his relatively more liberal stance on certain issues. (If Trump doesn't seem "liberal" to you, remember these are conservative businessmen.)
Contrary to media mavens with their feet stuck in the mud, these efforts are real and intensifying at this time. It is said there has never been a successful third party. Technically, this is true, although the Republican Party in 1860 had only participated once before in a national election. Also, it is still a young country. And these same naysayers (if we can call them that) also said Donald Trump would never become the presumptive nominee of the Grand Old Party. So much for the "wisdom" of the media elites.
The article whose link is below helps explain why what may seem a daunting effort -- trying to elect a President who is not the nominee of the Democrats or the Republicans -- is not so difficult as many believe.
