With a Presidential campaign in full swing and already over-shadowing local campaigns this year, the media is already being criticized -- and rightly so -- for shallow reportage. As usual, political strategy is dominating coverage to the detriment of issues. This is tragic -- and dangerous. The new media is exacerbating the problem, but also holds promise for improvement.
